Every donor has a unique reason for giving. For the Al & Joyce Wink Family, that passion is mathematics.
As Kearney Catholic alumni from the Classes of 1984, 1985, and 1987, members of the Wink family understand the lasting impact of a Catholic education. Their generous gift is helping transform today's math classrooms by providing innovative technology and instructional resources that will benefit students for years to come.
Their gift will fund interactive classroom technology, including Microsoft Surface Pro touchscreen devices, ultra short throw projection systems, interactive whiteboard panels, classroom calculator sets, statistics calculators, and a four-year subscription to an online math practice platform. Together, these resources will make lessons more engaging, collaborative, and hands-on while helping students better visualize mathematical concepts.
Longtime math teacher Dave Colling is excited about the possibilities.
"We are very thankful, and kids are going to reap the benefits of engaging, hands-on learning and better images of all kinds of mathematics," Colling said. "I'm excited to learn with them and embark on this journey together. If the kids think our classes are interesting before, look out—it's about to get crazy!"
The Wink family's generosity demonstrates how donor support can reflect a family's passions while directly enhancing the student experience. Their investment isn't simply purchasing equipment—it is creating opportunities for deeper learning, curiosity, and discovery for every student who walks into a Kearney Catholic math classroom.
