A Proud Past,
A Promising Future
Over three years ago the dreams of many started in motion and we thank all of you who have donated to the Capital Campaign. Without you, the improvements at the school would still be a dream instead of reality. In the summer of 2005 each classroom was refurnished and setup with up-to-date technology. New computer labs were established and equipped with new computers.
In keeping with the theme of the recent capital campaign- "A Proud Past, A Promising Future"- the KCHS Building Committee extensively researched and evaluated options available to address the needs of the school as brought forward in the capital campaign. They also attempted to look into the future of KCHS to consider the needs and capabilities which will be present with continued growth of the school. At the same time, they visualized the additional opportunities which would be available if the school were to have a modern, full sized facility while maintaining the current gymnasium for overflow needs and events which require less seating capacity such as Junior High events. Keeping the current gym also maintained the proud history and aesthetics of the school.
The student activities center, officially named Cope Coliseum, consists of a new gymnasium that seats over 1,200 fans. When bleachers are recessed there are two full court practice facilities. Other improvements consist of an expanded concession area, Athletic Director Office, weight training facility, multi-purpose room for Wrestling/Dance Team, Cheerleaders, restrooms, locker rooms, expanded training facility, storage area and an energy efficient facility with air conditioning. A 3,000 square foot music room was added between the existing school and the new student activities center.
If you haven't already, we hope you will stop by to see what the hard work of so many people in the KCHS family have accomplished in the last few years for a promising future at Kearney Catholic High School! Thank you for your support!
