Thank you!
The 26th annual G.O.L.D. Virtual Auction that was held November 20th created revenue to meet the needs for Kearney Catholic High School which cannot be underwritten by tuition or parish support alone. Before the 2020 fundraising event, $5.3 million had been raised over its 25 year history and designated for operating support and educational items at Kearney Catholic.
The 2020 auction was coordinated by Kearney Catholic High School Foundation Co-Chairs, Ben and Michelle Huls and Doug and Megan Mitchell.
“CoVid has halted much in 2020,” stated the Mitchells, “but the giving and generosity of Kearney isn’t one of them.”
The evening included a mobile bidding auction with “only at G.O.L.D.” items as well as a raffle. Chad and Vicki Micek of Kearney won the drawing during the live streamed event for the 2018 Camaro LT that was sponsored by Tim’s Auto and Culligan Water of Kearney.
“We are so grateful to all who took part in the virtual GOLD Auction this past week,” stated the Huls. “In a year of uncertainty, the Kearney area community exceeded our fundraising expectations for this amazing event. G.O.L.D. continues to thrive due to the generosity displayed by our local businesses and individual donors who rise to the occasion to support the faith-based education of Kearney Catholic students.”
Although final numbers are still being calculated, Fund An Item during the virtual event met the $50,000 goal for grants for teacher classroom needs at Kearney Catholic High School for all grades 6-12.
“Thank you to all who helped make this event a success: donors, gift acquirement teams, the Foundation office staff, and lastly, to all who participated in the auction. The students of Kearney Catholic High School are fortunate to have your support,” Huls added.
“We encourage our KCHS families to support these local businesses who donated to a faith-based education for Kearney area youth at Kearney Catholic,” Cindi Richter, Director of Development for the Kearney Catholic High School Foundation. “It is because of the dedication and commitment of many that students benefit from the financial assistance provided to Kearney Catholic High School through G.O.L.D. – Guidance and Opportunity which Leadership Demands.”
